Life has a way of throwing us curveballs—whether it’s a big transition or an unexpected crisis—and sometimes we just need a little extra support. That’s where counselling comes in!Think of it as a space where you can hit "pause" on life and sort through all the noise. In our sessions, you’re free to dive into your thoughts and feelings, exploring them openly in a way that might feel tricky with friends or family.Counselling isn’t about dishing out advice or telling you what to do—it’s about helping you find clarity, make choices, and navigate life with a bit more confidence and calm. It’s your time to unpack what’s on your mind and discover your own way forward.
What its all about

As a counsellor, I’m all about creating a space where acceptance and respect are front and center. Building trust is at the heart of what we do together—it’s like the foundation for exploring your world, your relationships, and whatever’s weighing on your mind. Together, we’ll uncover things you might not have had the chance or courage to face before. My role? To listen deeply, respect your experiences, and be your non-judgmental companion on this journey. I’m not here to tell you what to do but to walk alongside you for a while as you navigate your path. You can count on a safe and confidential environment where you’re free to share whatever’s on your mind—no filters, no pressure, just you being you.
About Neil Carter
MNZACI’m all about creating a relaxed and judgment-free space where you can feel truly heard. My goal isn’t to tell you what to do or think, but to guide you as you uncover your own strengths and make sense of your journey. In counselling, I mix things up! My approach draws from CBT, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and Client-Centred methods, with a sprinkle of solution-focused and ACT techniques. Think of it as a toolkit tailored to your unique needs.I grew up in South Auckland and have called stunning Rotorua home since 2001. My heritage is a rich blend of European and Māori (Ngātirangi, Tūhoe), which shapes my perspective and connection to people. Before diving into private practice, I spent years as a high school counsellor and a community and faith-based youth worker. I enjoyed running youth groups, teaching life skills, and helping young people and their families navigate the ups and downs of life.Let’s navigate life together—one step, one story, one insight at a time!
